At CSIRO Publishing, a not-for-profit organization, we are deeply committed to advancing open science and meeting the needs of researchers. We take pride in offering a supportive and accessible publishing experience for our authors throughout every stage of the process.

Our publishing journey began in the late 1940s within the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO). In 1995, CSIRO Publishing was established as an independent publishing house. Today, our editorially independent program spans a wide array of scientific disciplines, publishing thousands of articles each year.

We are proud members of various professional societies, including the International Association of STM Publishers and the Association of Learned and Professional Society Publishers. Our commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards is further demonstrated by our membership in the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), which ensures that we adhere to best practices in scholarly peer review.

As a signatory to the SDG Publishers Compact, CSIRO Publishing is dedicated to promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Open Access
We are committed to transitioning from traditional paywalled research to an open, transparent, and reproducible publishing model. All our journals offer Open Access or hybrid publishing options that comply with funding body requirements. We also collaborate with institutions and the library community to facilitate Read & Publish agreements. Our Green Open Access policy allows accepted manuscripts to be deposited in institutional repositories without embargo.

Speed
We prioritize fast publication times without sacrificing quality. Our rigorous peer review process upholds the integrity of the research we publish. The time from submission to first decision and from acceptance to publication varies by journal and can be found on each journal’s homepage flyer.

Quality
Our editorial boards consist of world-leading scientists who are actively involved in the research community, ensuring the integrity and rigor of our peer review process. After acceptance, every paper undergoes professional copyediting to enhance clarity and readability.

Discoverability
We make sure your research is easy to find, share, and cite, ensuring that your ideas and knowledge reach researchers, communities, and institutions globally. Our journals are indexed by key industry services such as CrossRef, Web of Science, Scopus, Google Scholar, Baidu Scholar, and PubMed. We also integrate with ORCID and Publons, allowing authors and reviewers to seamlessly connect to their professional outputs. Furthermore, all our content is available through Research4Life, providing low or no-cost access to developing countries.

Impact
Our dedicated team works tirelessly to maximize the visibility, reach, and impact of our published articles. In addition to indexing, we promote content through social media, email alerts, curated collections, and online communities. At the article level, integrated tools such as citation tracking and Altmetrics help you measure the impact of your work.
